Exciting News! The Unofficial Guide to U.S. Legal Studies: For Foreign Lawyers is now available (from ABA Publishing)

August 27, 2012

We are very excited to let our readers now that a new book, created with foreign lawyers in mind is now available from the ABA (American Bar Association) Publishing.

Our founder, Johana M. Gomez, along with her good friend and Northwestern University classmate, Albert Vincent Y. Yu Chang contributed and co-edited the Unofficial Guide to U.S. Legal Studies: For Foreign Lawyers.

As described by the ABA webpage:

Based on the authors' varied experiences as foreign law students, attorneys, and professionals in the United States, this guide is written for the benefit of foreign lawyers who have the desire to study the law in the United States. The authors share the commonality of having been born, raised, and/or educated outside the United States and facing challenges in the pursuit of careers in the intensely competitive world of corporate America. By design, the team of coauthors represents different parts of the world (e.g., Asia, Latin America, and Europe), and each chapter is written with a different voice--in order that ideas may be communicated from the unique perspectives of different cultures.

Providing relevant information for foreign lawyers, this guide provides:

  1. A discussion of factors that prospective students should consider in deciding whether or not to study in the United States;

  2. Information on degree and non-degree programs, choice of schools, law school rankings;

  3. Guidance on the application and admission process;

  4. An overview of the law school experience and taking the Bar exam;

  5. Insight into career opportunities including job hunting;

  6. And much more!
